Gesher Galicia SIG Luncheon Talk at the IAJGS 2019 in Cleveland

 

Gesher Galicia would like to invite all those planning to attend the conference in Cleveland to our luncheon which will be held on Wednesday July 31st at 12:15-1:30 in the Hope A Ballroom (Session Code 1506).

 

We are preparing an exciting program for you. Dr. Steven Turner, will present his talk entitled, "Traveling Through the Heart of Galicia: A Galitzianer's Journey."

 

Dr. Turner traveled before and after last year's IAJGS conference in Warsaw. He started his journey in Western Galicia and then after the conference led a group of descendants from Nadworna under the guidance of Alex Denisenko through Eastern Galicia. In this segment, the group spent an unforgettable Shabbat with Rabbi Moyshe Kolesnik and his congregation in Ivano-Frankivsk (formerly Stanislawow) before heading to Nadvirna where the town was all decked out to welcome the group and a monument to the victims of the Shoah was dedicated. He finished his trip with a stay in Lviv and a side-trip to Rohatyn.
